What scares me is that as a mom 5, one of which has ADHD, I've never even been asked if he eats any of the things on that MSG list!! Is there anything that is safe for our kids to eat anymore?? I know tuna is supposedly high in mercury, yet WIC still provides it to pregnant/ breastfeeding women, I know because I get the coupons for it. I have an infant that was almost 2 months premature and the thought that I might be harming her with what I eat and feed her is terrifying. I do breastfeed her because it's the best thing for her, but she is now trying new foods. I am going to buy a food mill as soon as I can and try to at least make her as much fresh food as possible. Is there a free site or newsletter on the web that can be subscribed to? I swear this is why low income families are so unhealthy, we just don't have access to important information.

I first became truly aware of MSG in the late 1980's while attending college. I mean I sort of new that it was a "flavor enhancer" but that was about it.

In this course called "Science, Technology and Society" one of the required reading pieces was about Monosodium Glutamate. When I discovered that it was made with a close chemical relative of Draino I literally freaked. Sometimes you just get "that" feeling that something is really bad. That was one of those times for me.

I told myself no more MSG.

Back then it was a lot easier to stay away from it. Now-a-days it is extremely difficult to find anything without it, especially after reading this post and your other post <a href="http://aromatherapy4u.wordpress.com/2006/10/09/hidden-sources-of-msg-in-regular-organic-foods/" rel="nofollow">"Hidden Sources..."</a>.

Thanks for the heads up and keep up the good work!
