The Young Living essential oil blend Thieves is a blend of therapeutic-grade essential oils. The Thieves blend was tested at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah in 1997 – the studies showed the anti-bacterial effectiveness of the Thieves blend against airborne microorganisms. When you have plants that are properly grown and distilled this is what you end up with… a product that goes well beyond aromatherapy essential oils. Why I swear by these oils…
One analysis showed a 90 percent reduction in the number of gram positive Micrococcus luteus organisms after diffusing Thieves for 12 minutes. Then after diffusing Thieves for a total of 20 minutes, there was a 99.3 percent reduction.
Another study against the gram negative Pseudomonas Aeruginosa showed a kill rate of 99.96 percent after just 12 minutes of diffusion of this blend.
The essential oils in the Thieves blend are highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious and help to protect the body against such illnesses as flu, colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, sore throats, cuts, etc.
Antiviral Effects of Eugenol
Eugenol strongly inhibits growth of HSVI and HSVII
Eugenol significantly delayed the onset of herpetic lesion on the eyes of infected animals
Toxic Molds
• Aspergillus parasiticus is a soil-borne fungus growing on both living and decaying plant matter. This mold produces mycotoxins as metabolic by-products.
• One mycotoxin, aflatoxin BI has been identified as being the most toxic, carcinogenic, hepatotoxic and potentially mutagenic.
• Dr. Radwan Farag found that clove oil at only 6-8 parts in 10,000 totally inhibited mold and aflatoxin production. Clove is one of the essential oils in the Thieves blend.

Effects of Thieves on Aerosol-borne Bacteria
[bacteria count (CFU) starting at 0 to 4,500]
• With the bacteria of M. Luteus it was around 4,100 and after using Thieves the count dropped to around 700
• With P. aeruginosa it was around 2,000 and after using Thieves it dropped to 1
• With S. aureus it was around 2,300 and after using Thievers it dropped to 1,000
The Effect of Time on the Counts
[bacterial count 0 to 10,000]
• Bacteria starting out at 10,000 at zero minutes
– After 3 minutes of diffusing it dropped to 5,000
- After 6 minutes of diffusing it dropped to 800
– After 9 minutes of diffusing it dropped to 2
– After 12 minutes of diffusing you can hardly see it
Application
Diffuse for 15 to 30 minutes every 3 to 4 hours in work or home environment. Apply to bottom of feet, or rub over feet, throat, stomach, and abdomen. Dilute one drop of Thieves in 15 drops of V-6 Mixing Oil or Massage Oil Base and massage over thymus. It is safest when applied to the bottom of the feet as it may be caustic to the skin. It is best to dilute with V-6 Mixing Oil.
