In 2002, 50% of all cancers (approx. 1.1 million cases) in the US were skin cancers, of which 10,000 cases were fatal. Wow, that’s enough to make you want to avoid the sun like the plague! Or, is it???
What’s not taken into account or appreciated by our traditional medical doctors, and what is not recognized at all in the commercial industry, is that the foods we eat play a much greater role in the development of skin cancer than sun exposure.
Fifteen years ago an Australian study showed a 40% reduction in melanoma in those who ate fish – this was a study that paid no attention to lowering omega 6 fats.
In the early 1900’s we had very little processed vegetable oils in our diet. Today when vegetables are processed and refined and consumed in large amounts they can cause major health problems.
Most vegetables are very high in omega-6 fats. In the last 100 years the U.S. population has gone from consuming virtually no vegetable fats to consuming more than 70 lbs per year per person. These fats come from corn oil, safflower, sunflower, sesame and other greasy cooking oils – these are virtually 100% omega-6 fats.
In 2001, the National Academy of Sciences published a comprehensive review which showed that the omega 6:3 ratio was key to preventing skin cancer development.
We will benefit from consuming additional omega-3 fats, but it is extremely important to reduce the omega-6 vegetable oils as much as possible.
Ideally, the ratio should be 1:1, most Americans have a 15:1 ratio.
The Japanese are the longest-lived culture on earth, and their ratio is about 3:1.
Not sure who or what to believe?
To restore a better omega 6:3 ratio try Young Living’s Omega Blue softgels – I think this is perhaps the best fish oil capsules I’ve ever taken – no fish burps either! Give it a try, if you don’t agree return the unused portion within 30 days for a refund.
NingXia Red juice from Young Living is a nutrient infusion and can help play a role too, by keeping the immune system strong.

Rashguard Woman
Don’t forget the UV protective clothing! Surfers have used rash guard shirts for years but it’s just recently that the SPF 150+ protection these shirts provide while you’re in the water has been discovered by the rest of the beach going population.
