Excerpt from transcript of a Gary Young talk…

This is also another reason that Cedarwood is so effective as an oil for stimulating hair growth for us guys. The hair follicle loosens and dies and falls out, and that is because of testosterone levels dropping..so you have two things there, but Cedarwood is really powerful for getting that oxygen into the hair follicle if you are massaging the scalp.

It’s very powerful for regenerating arterial walls.  It’s powerful for the lymphatic system for the simple reason that it increases oxygen flow into the fluid and into the blood fluid through the whole body.  It’s really a beautiful oil.  In order to have brain power and great memory recall and great memory retention, you have got to have good oxygen to the brain.  That is really important.

Melissa, (which is second to Cedarwood ) in sesquiterpene activity, is followed by Sandalwood, and Frankincense is fourth. You can see the high activity in sesquiterpenes with the Sandalwood-67%!  It’s a beautiful oil.

This is one of the oils I mentioned that was tested at Vienna University and showed 28% increase of oxygen around the pituitary gland.  It is so important. It is a decongestant of the lymph system, a cardiatonic, it’s calming to the nerves.

One oil doesn’t dominate the action of one thing. It’s multi-phasic and it’s a global action. Of course, we use Lavender for calming and Helichrysum for chelating and opening those blood vessels to get greater oxygen saturation into the brain.  You want to get those chemicals out of the brain..you can’t increase brain function if it is heavy laden with mercury or lead or arsenic or nickel or cadmium.

Some people have brain fatigue and are very heavy laden in the brain with heavy metals and plasticizers from chemicals and petrochemicals, so  this product not only increases oxygen, but it also stimulates the neurotransmitters in the brain for receptivity and for memory recall.

This is the first time in my life that I have seen anything remotely close to what we’re seeing in this NEW United States Government – pinch me! We actually have a voice NOW!? I can’t believe it. Now that the man who I’ve referred to as the “Kiss of Death” from 2001-2008 is OUTTA HERE maybe, just maybe, we can get our country back and pointed in the right direction.

On the agenda today is “Food” – our food and here’s what we can do…

Despite over 100,000 emails sent by Organic Consumers Association action network members to President Obama and the US Senate, Tom Vilsack was confirmed by the Senate as the Secretary of Agriculture on January 21st.

The Secretary of Agriculture is responsible for directing the U.S. Department of Agriculture and its $90 billion annual budget, including the National Organic Program, food stamp and nutrition programs, and agricultural subsidies. Read the rest of this entry »

** Caution: most essential oils are NOT the high quality as Young Living Essential Oils therefore NEVER ingest or take internally an essential oil UNLESS there are instructions on the label that tell you how – if there are no instructions you can rest assured that the essential oil is of much lower quality and would be dangerous to your health to ingest. Also – just because a label states it’s “organic”, “wildcrafted”, or “100% pure” does NOT mean it’s safe for ingesting! An essential oil can be labeled organic and STILL be unfit for internal consumption!

You may already know Michael Pollen right now he’s calling for the US people to take action before January 31, 2009 and vote for a White House organic farmer.

This farmer will be in charge with transforming “five prime south-facing acres of the White House lawn and planting in their place an organic fruit and vegetable garden” whose produce will be used by the White House Chef, and given to area food banks. Read the rest of this entry »

Have you wondered… how do Antioxidants get into Plants?

Flavonoids are polyphenol-type antioxidants. They occur in virtually all plant foods and are associated with a range of preventive health benefits.

A team of researchers from the University of California-Davis and the University of Minnesota analyzed the levels of two beneficial flavonoid-type antioxidants – quercetin and kaempferol – in dried tomatoes (Mitchell AE et al 2007). To be fair, some of the nutrient-density advantage possessed by organic produce stems from the fact that it typically contains less water per ounce, hence higher levels of dry matter, including nutrients, per ounce. (Worthington V 1998; Gyorene KG et al 2006) (The new study compared nutrient levels in dried tomatoes. so that was not the case in this instance.)

They found that tomatoes grown by certified-organic methods contained 79 and 97 percent more quercetin and kaempferol respectively, compared with tomatoes grown by conventional methods.

It is thought that “over-fertilization” of the conventionally grown plants results in lower levels of flavonoids, which are produced in response to stresses, including nutrient deficiencies that can make plants more vulnerable to infections and pests.

Levels of the flavonoids in organically grown plants increased over time as soil levels of nitrogen compounds decreased. As the researchers put it, “This increase [in flavonoid content] corresponds … with reduced manure application rates once soils in the organic systems had reached equilibrium levels of organic matter.” (Mitchell AE et al 2007)

For years, I have been taking Young Living Chewable Vitamin C for a couple of reasons: 1) they taste terrific (they remind me of the Smartie candy), and 2) the nutritional benefits. Now I find out that good sources of vitamin C can help keep blood pressure (BP) down but there’s also a connection between BP and insulin resistance or Type 2 Diabetes.

Nutrition for Health

Nutrition for Health

A Dec. 2008 study published in the Nutrition Journal found that the numbers (top and bottom) in blood pressure readings were inversely associated with ascorbic acid levels (vitamin C). The study showed that women with the highest levels of ascorbic acid had a decline of about 4.6 mm Hg in systolic and just over 6 mm Hg in diastolic blood pressure, compared to women with the lowest ascorbic acid levels.

The study also found that by just having high blood pressure more than doubles your risk of developing type 2 diabetes!

Furthermore, they also found that beta-blocker drugs caused type 2 diabetes. They believe the mechanisms by which beta-blockers may contribute to the development of diabetes include weight gain, attenuation of the beta-receptor-mediated release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells, and decreased blood flow through the microcirculation in skeletal-muscle tissue, leading to decreased insulin sensitivity (based on a study of more than 12,000 people aged 45 to 64 who did not have diabetes).

Quite simply, how did we get into a MRSA mess? We over-used: antibiotics, antibacterial soaps and antibacterial cleaners, and lack of cleanliness in health care facilities.

Now that we ARE in a pickle, what were our mistakes and what can we do to remedy the situation?

What MRSA looks like on the skin

What MRSA looks like on the skin

When common disinfectants are used in low levels (this is NOT suggesting you should use these health-threatening disinfectants in higher amounts!), researchers found that they actually make certain bacteria stronger and resistant to antibiotic treatment, i.e., MRSA and hospital acquired staph infections. This is true in hospital settings, and certainly applies to the low-level disinfectants many use around their homes.

Researchers exposed Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) taken from the blood of patients to low concentrations of several biocides, which resulted in the appearance of resistant mutants.

If bacteria that live in protected environments are exposed to biocides repeatedly, for example during cleaning (such as in hospitals, nursing homes, gyms, etc.), they can build up resistance to disinfectants and antibiotics. Such bacteria have been shown to contribute to hospital-acquired staph infections, MRSA, and “Community Acquired MRSA”. Read the rest of this entry »

With all our technology and the ease we have in communication today I don’t understand why things like this are not known by everybody, we had what, more than 4,000 years to spread the word…

Over 4,000 years ago, the Egyptians used copper to sterilize wounds and drinking water, and the Aztecs treated skin conditions with the metal.

The ancient Greeks also knew of coppers benefits. Hippocrates, sometimes called ‘the father of medicine’, noted that it could be used to treat leg ulcers.

Today, copper is a common constituent in medicines including antiseptic and antifungal creams. Copper is also believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. Many of those with arthritis wear copper bangles. Read the rest of this entry »

Spearmint (Mentha spicata) has a minty, slightly fruity scent, softer than peppermint. A rich antioxidant, spearmint helps support the respiratory and nervous systems* and may help open and release emotional blocks leading to a sense of balance and well-being. Spearmint may also be used to enhance the flavor of food.

I’ve been diffusing my Young Living Thieves essential oil daily, 15-30 minutes once or twice a day – it’s cheaper and more fun to stay healthy, than to get sick and go to the doctor. The other day I felt like I wanted to have a bit of a different scent, so I added to my diffuser well several drops of the following YL oils to the Thieves oil: Evergreen Essence, Spearmint, and Tangerine – WOW, does that smell terrific!

Famed physicians co-signed an essay advocating for lifestyle-based prevention and natural remedies; US survey shows unconventional healthcare remains popular.

The Obama administration-in-waiting is being swamped by a flood of suggestions.

We hope that he acts on some very good ideas published last week in The Wall Street Journal by four of America’s leading medical thinkers and researchers: Dean Ornish, MD, Andrew Weil, MD, Deepak Chopra, MD, and Rustum Roy, PhD.

Their main point is that to bring down rates of major diseases … and the need for costly interventions … any effective overhaul of the healthcare system must tackle the preventable causes of America’s major diseases.

They want Mr. Obama’s administration to advocate and support lifestyle changes — diet and exercise — proven to prevent common, chronic conditions. Read the rest of this entry »

Shifting Energy in the Home

Shifting Energy in the Home

Entering a space can make you feel immediately light and uplifted, or leave you feeling depleted and drained – you are responding to the energy of that environment. Every space has energy, whether solid or seemingly empty, it is composed of infinite energy. Learning a few simple techniques on how to cleanse the space can have a dramatic influence on the way you feel and on every aspect of your life. These Space Clearing techniques can be used along with my Feng Shui tips for 2009, Year of the Ox, so your home is much more harmonious and balanced.

Space Clearing techniques have been used throughout history. The methods and tools vary from culture to culture, but the intent is the same – to create greater harmony and balance. Native Americans used: drums, rattles, and smudged (sage, cedarwood or juniper). Chinese used: gongs, chanting, and incense. Medieval Europe, salt and prayers cleared the energy. The Middle East: smoldering resins of frankincense and myrrh were used to invite blessings into a home.

These forgotten ceremonies that brought vitality to human structures generations ago are being used again to instill peace and equilibrium. These ancient rituals can be adapted for modern day use, and most important. A home or business that has been purified not only feels better but sometimes, in seemingly mystical ways, health improves, relationships deepen and prosperity expands. Read the rest of this entry »

A huge percentage of the approximate 4,000 chemicals approved by the FDA to "fragrance" products are known carcinogens and many may be labeled an "essential oil."
