Two very useful and special Young Living Essential Oils are free until April 15, 2009. Both of these essential oils are some of my favorite oils for not only aromatherapy purposes but for my body aches and pains. They are the best. See how to get them for free at the bottom of this post. Right now I want to share with you the ways I use both…

About Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea)

The fir tree – commonly used as a christmas tree today – has been prized through the ages for its medicinal effects and ability to heal respiratory conditions and muscular and rheumatic pain, sprains, to elevate mood.

Balsam fir essential oil is renowned for its benefits to the respiratory system, as well as its ability to soothe over-worked muscles and joints. The oil was recently harvested on Young Living’s own Balsam Fir Farm and contains optimal levels of four important constituents: alpha pineane, beta pineane, camphene, and limonene, which gives it many of its soothing characteristics.

Balsam fir lends its qualities to a variety of Young Living products including Young Living’s specially formulated Deep Relief™ Essential Oil Roll-On (which is also part of the free offer through April 15, 2009, learn more below).

The fragrant influence of Balsam fir is grounding, stimulating to the mind, and relaxing to the body. I find it particularly uplifting when my mood is down and I just love the smell.

The best part about my Young Living oils is the amazing care and perfection that goes into producing every single batch. There is nothing that I’ve ever seen that comes close to the quality of YL oils, they are by far the best essential oils – and I would say that even if I wasn’t a distributor. Here’s an article I wrote on the harvest

Many Ways I like to Use Therapeutic-grade YL Balsam Fir Oil

• Dilute 1 part Idaho Balsam Fir with 1 part V-6 Massage Oil or vegetable oil.

• Mix 5-7 drops Balsam fir with 1/4 cup Sea Salt, add mixture to hot bath water for a nice warming and uplifting soak.

• Applied topically, 2-4 drops on location or used in Raindrop Technique.

• Chakras or Vita Flex points (on feet).

• Directly inhale, place a single drop in palm, rub palms together and cup over nose without touching face (keep away from eyes).

• Diffuse Balsam fir in one of my 3 Young Living Diffusers.

• As dietary supplement 1-2 drops in 1 teaspoon Agave or honey. Or, a single drop in a cup of hot water as a wintertime tea.

• As a bathroom air freshener – 6-10 drops in a 2 oz. spray bottled filled with water, spritz into air as needed.

Using Balsam Fir for Congestion and Colds and Flu

Diluted 50-50 with carrier oil (V-6), then massage 1-2 drops on each of the following areas: forehead, nose, cheeks [KEEP AWAY FROM EYES], lower throat, chest and upper back, 1-3 times daily.

Vita Flex Foot Point Massage

Massage 1-3 drops Balsam fir on Vita Flex points on the feet, 1-2 times daily.

About Deep Relief Roll-On

Some of the ways I enjoy using Deep Relief: rolled generously on temples and back of neck and shoulders, on my feet, the aching elbow I was having last week (I also used Balsam fir too – they’re excellent together!)

• On the back of my neck for tension headaches.

• Rolled generously on sore, stiff muscles (before bedtime is very nice, I wake up feeling relaxed and refreshed.)

Even my dog Bandit loves this blend! When his back is feeling stiff, I move his long silky hair away to expose his skin and apply a couple of rolling dabs – he loves it! But I would expect that as Deep Relief contains one of his most favorite essential oils, Palo Santo. Read Bandit’s Palo Santo story and here’s a fact sheet on Deep Relief.

Now through April 15, 2009, you can earn a FREE 5 ml Balsam fir essential oil and a FREE 10 ml Deep Relief™ Roll-On with any single order of 165 PV or more!

These products combined have a wholesale value of $44.50, and they will automatically be added to your order absolutely free!

“From the great spiral galaxies, thousands of light years across, to the trillions of atoms swirling in a grain of sand, the universe is composed of spinning wheels of energy. Flowers, trees trunks, planets, and people – each is made of tiny wheels turning inside, riding upon the great wheel of the Earth, spinning in its orbit through space. A fundamental building block of nature, the wheel is the circle of life flowing through all aspects of existence.

At the inner core of each one of us spin seven wheel-like energy centers called chakras. Swirling intersections of vital life forces, each chakra reflects an aspect of consciousness essential to our lives. Together the seven chakras form a profound formula for wholeness that integrates mind, body, and spirit. As a complete system, the chakras provide a powerful tool for both personal and planetary growth.”  ~ Excerpt from: Anodea Judith, Ph.D. Wheels of Life: a user’s guide to the chakra system

The main Chakra or energy centers are located along the midline of the body, from the pelvis to the top of the head, fanning out from both the front and back. The charkas feed into the meridians and thereby connect with all the organs. Just as there are specific emotions associated with each organ, there are specific emotions associated with each chakra.

Ideally, you would initially clear all the charkas on all levels by starting with the first, or root chakra, and progressing upward, ending with the eighth chakra located 8 inches above the top of the head.

This 30 minute video by Anodea Judith, Ph.D. on the Chakra Systems is available in DVD at SacredCenters.com  (check out her workshops and classes too.) This beautiful video explains Kundalini-Shakti, the mystical serpent awakening, who drives the vital force which opens each chakra…

Using YL Essential Oils to Clear and Harmonize Chakras

Begin by placing a drop of the associated essential oil. Western Red Cedar for the first or root chakra, into the palm of your non-dominant hand and rotate the drop clockwise three times to energetically activate it.

Next, place the essential oil on the chakra point, in this case the public bone, the emotional points on the forehead, top of the head, spinal cord or release point.

Breathe in a deep clearing breath and exhale, releasing any held energies.

Smell the oil [by cupping the palms over the nose without touching the face], feel both sides of the emotion.

Maintaining Chakra Balance and Harmony

At the beginning of the day, clearing all the charkas with Young Living essential oils and toning is a great way to align your energy field or to recap and unwind before retiring at night.

For a pick-me-up, test each chakra and treat only the one or ones that are out of balance. The chakra most commonly out of balance is the eighth chakra, which affects the third or most outer energy field level.

Embarking on a spiritual journey of transformation by aligning and balancing your energy through the use of therapeutic-grade essential oils is a most delightful way to bring yourself into emotional balance. Integrating awareness of the physical through the application of these essential oil blends from Young Living Essential Oils formulated to help you attain a higher spiritual frequency. A powerful essence connects us to the spiritual, to the divine. A sacred fragrance opens pathways and clears distractions. Now our hearts can communicate with that which is holy. Now our minds can hear the whisper of peace that will bring us comfort and enlightenment.

For centuries, spiritual seekers have used essential oils, incense and fragrances to help them focus and create sacred spaces that enhanced their ability to connect with the Divine. It is an interesting fact that diverse ancient cultures that had no way of mingling chose some of the same fragrances and oils to intensify their communion with the Spiritual Realm.

The essential oils listed below are Young Living blends that are specifically chosen to enhance a person’s ability to become more aware and receptive to Spirit. These blends are believed to possess vibrational frequencies that affect the physical and energetic bodies, removing blocks and balancing energies to experience greater “vision” or to “hear” with more clarity. The frequencies of these oils enhance perceptions that enable you to feel a greater Oneness with Spirit.

Once again our Founder and President, Gary Young, was on the front lines to ensure Young Living essential oils are the purest and most potent available—he recently wrapped up a successful balsam fir harvest in northern Idaho!

There he employed the help of many Young Living employees and distributors, and his commitment to the Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ standard was evident as he oversaw every step of the harvest.

We’ve created a short video for you to enjoy some of the action:

Those who participated in this rare opportunity commented on the importance of Gary’s hands-on involvement in the oil-sourcing process. General Manager of the Americas, Mike McLean, was thrilled to be a part of the hard work and dedication that Gary demands for his oils:

“Gary made sure that everyone got to be personally involved in each step of the harvesting process,” says Mike. “From cutting trees to loading trucks, we all got to experience everything that goes into a batch of balsam fir oil.”

Most important to Mike was the positive teamwork that surrounded the event:

“It was amazing to feel the spirit of teamwork as distributors, corporate employees, and farm employees worked long hours in cold, tough conditions, never once complaining or losing steam.”

The harvest took place on Young Living’s Balsam Farm in northern Idaho, just a few miles south of the Canadian border. Sustainable growing practices are of utmost importance to Gary, and he resolves that nature be left in better shape than when the harvest began. That’s why he insists on replanting the harvested area with optimal spacing between trees to protect against forest fires and ground erosion.

The fir tree—commonly known as the Christmas tree—is renowned for its benefits to the respiratory system, as well as its ability to soothe over-worked muscles and joints. The balsam fir essential oil recently harvested is exclusive to Young Living and contains optimal levels of four important constituents: alpha pineane, beta pineane, camphene, and limonene, which give it many of its soothing characteristics.

Balsam fir lends its soothing qualities to a variety of Young Living products, such as:

Balsam Fir Essential Oil   (#3314  5 ml)
Balsam Fir Essential Oil   (#3316  15 ml)
Believe™ Essential Oil Blend   (#3310  10 ml)
BLM™   (#3234)
En-R-Gee™ Essential Oil Blend   (#3336  15 ml)
Gratitude™ Essential Oil Blend   (#3346  5 ml)
Legacy™ Essential Oil Blend   (# 3577  15 ml)
Deep Relief™ Roll-On   (#3534)
Sacred Mountain™ Bar Soap   (#3671)

The balsam fir essential oil harvested at this event has already been tested, bottled, and we are happy to announce that products containing balsam fir are back online and in stock!

Gary’s hands-on approach during this and other harvests in Ecuador, France, and Utah Young Living farms is what sets Young Living apart from everyone else. Not only do we ensure that the purest, most potent essential oils are harvested and distilled on our own farms, but our sourcing specialists also routinely visit our suppliers to share their expert knowledge. This continued commitment to quality ensures Young Living’s status as the world leader in essential oils is the best.

Have you ever used a high quality therapeutic-grade essential oil before? If not, you are in for a wonderful surprise!

Young Living Essential Oils are the best I have ever found. I’ve been using essential oils for aromatherapy purposes for 20 years. Let’s start with the basics that you’ll need to know…

[Note: updates to the financial disaster are and will be added at the bottom of this post.]

I just finished reading an article, actually a transcript of a talk, by Dmitry Orlov. Since none of us really know what’s going to happen to our economy I thought it would be smart to post some excerpts from the transcripts as some of what he is talking about might be very useful ‘if’ our US economy gets any worse.

“I would like my insights to be of help during these difficult and confusing times, for altruistic reasons, mostly, although not entirely. This is because when times get really bad, as they did when the Soviet Union collapsed, lots of people just completely lose it. Men, especially. Successful, middle-aged men, breadwinners, bastions of society, turn out to be especially vulnerable. And when they just completely lose it, they become very tedious company. My hope is that some amount of preparation, psychological and otherwise, can make them a lot less fragile, and a bit more useful, and generally less of a burden.

Sure, why not they’re doing it in New Delhi! In the mid 1980s I was in Switzerland when I went to make a shopping trip to a local grocery store the friends who I was staying with told me to bring a shopping bag, otherwise I’d have to buy one to tote home the groceries. I can’t recall how much they were though I do recall thinking the price of the bags were expensive and thus a deterrent. I never once recalled seeing a plastic bag blowing around in the swirling breezes of the Alps, nor hung-up in a tree limb. As a matter of fact, upon arriving at JFK Airport and driving into NYC I found our country, the USA, quite filthy in comparison to Switzerland. Our streets, yards and air more resembling trash receptacles of our lazy and careless ways.

Perhaps, the economic crisis we’re in the midst of might turn out to be a good thing. We are consuming less, something we clearly NEED to do more of – shift our old ways of thinking and doing. But what would it be like if the US adopted a much different measure of our country’s worth? What if we used a country like Bhutan whose Gross National Happiness is deemed more important than the Gross National Product??? Instead of focusing on gross domestic product (GDP), we modeled Bhutan and gross national happiness (GNH). For safe and effective therapeutic use of essential oils it is important to have a basic knowledge of their constituents – and equally important to use a high quality essential oil, such as Young Living. Essential oils usually contain several major compounds and many more minor compounds, sometimes numbering in the hundreds. Researchers have identified many specific compounds responsible for the anti-microbial powers of oils and the synergistic effect is probably more therapeutically balanced and potent than using an active ingredient that has been isolated from an essential oil.

Terpenes

Terpenes include monoterpenes, sequiterpenes, and diterpenes. These comprise a large group of molecules found in some form in almost all essential oils having a wide range of therapeutic functions.

Different monoterpenes have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral and antibacterial properties. Some are stimulating with a tonic effect. Some are expectorant, mucous membrane stimulants, and decongestants. Others are atmospheric antiseptic agents.

The process Young Living Essential Oils uses when planting, cultivating, harvesting, and distilling a batch of oil is crucial to retaining its vital compounds. Without the exact blend of naturally-occurring plant chemicals, an essential oil can lose its beneficial properties and fail to produce the desired effect.

Young Living Lavender Farm

Young Living Lavender Farm

Young Living Therapeutic Grade (YLTG) means that every essential oil Young Living distills or sources has the optimal naturally-occurring blend of constituents to maximize the desired effect. Young Living is able to make this assertion because our strict cultivation process—illustrated by the Four Ps—guarantees the optimal potency of every Young Living essential oil. It is named for Damascus, Syria, the place of its origin. But Rosa damascena began its travels in Europe when the Romans began planting their favorite flowers all over the empire.

Perhaps the most fragrant rose species in the world, it is grown in the fields of France and Eastern Europe as a commercial source of rose oil. It is used to make attar of rose, a substance coveted by perfume makers. Damascus roses were brought to Spain and cultivated in the region of Castile, where it became known as Rose of Castile.

Even in the best case, only 10 g of the essential oil are distilled from as much as 100 kg fresh rose flowers (0.01%). Redistillation of the by-product rose water triples the yield, so that approximately 3000 to 5000 kg fresh rose flowers are needed for 1 kg rose oil. This low yield makes Damascus Rose essential oil one of the most coveted in the world.

Damascus Rose (Rosa damascena) has the highest frequency of any essential oil at 320 MHz. Its beautiful fragrance is intoxicating and aphrodisiac-like. Rose helps bring balance and harmony. It is used for the skin. It is stimulating and elevating to the mind, creating a sense of well-being.

Young Living Essential Oils are highly concentrated and are NOT adulterated, so a little bit goes a long way, thus one single drop goes a long way. The shelf-life for essential oils has not been established – oil residue from jars in Egyptian Tombs have been found to still be viable and that would be several thousand years later!

So, if you really love your partner, maybe try something a little bit different this year. Dispense with the dinner and a movie. Cook a simple, intimate meal at home and try some quality time together enhanced by the exquisite fragrance of Damascus Rose (#3623) essential oil.

Using YL Rose Oil Safely

Dilution of Young Living’s Rose essential oil is usually NOT required; suitable for all but the most sensitive skin. Safe for children over 2 years old.

Rose Oil in Young Living Blends

Rose essential oil is found in the following Young Living blends (all of which have wonderful aromas, especially Gentle Baby and White Angelica):

• Envision (#3337)

• Humility (#3354)

• Harmony(#3351)

• SARA (#3417)

• Trauma Life (#6350)

It may help asthma, chronic bronchitis, herpes simplex, impotence, scarring, sexual debilities, skin diseases and wrinkles. Strengthening to physical heart and circulatory system.

The petals were used in cooking (they still are) in the mid-East, rose water from the rose is used ceremonially, the essential oil is used in the healing arts and the flower itself is a symbol of undying love.

Applying YL oils to your feet is very effective.

Applying YL oils to your feet is very effective.

A ‘Carrier Oil’ is Quite Different than an Essential Oil

A carrier oil is a fatty oil (like the fatty oils used for cooking purposes), whereas and essential oil is volatile, meaning it evaporates or dissipates into the air.

Fatty oils (carrier oil) can and ‘will’ turn rancid within a relatively short period of time (usually about a year).

A YL essential oil which is ‘not’ combined with a fatty oil (carrier oil) pretty much has an indefinite shelf-life provided you do not expose your bottle of essential oil to extremes of heat, cold, or sunlight. Thus, it is recommended that when you do mix your YL essential oil with a carrier oil that if be done in smaller amounts or batches (what you’ll be able to use up within 4 months or less). garbage-canAre you wondering if soy milk, soy cheese, soy ice cream, soy veggie burgers, soy hot dogs, tofu, and other soy products are healthy? Or, maybe you’re wondering if the soy bean industry duped us? Here’s a terrific article by Catherine Ebeling, RN, BSN on The Secrets of Soy…

It was only a few decades ago, the soybean was considered unfit to eat – even in Asia.

The soybean did not serve as a food until the discovery of fermentation techniques, some time during the Chou Dynasty. The first soy foods were fermented products like tempeh, natto, miso and soy sauce.

At a later date, possibly in the 2nd century BC, Chinese scientists discovered that a puree of cooked soybeans could be precipitated with calcium sulfate or magnesium sulfate (plaster of Paris or Epsom salts) to make a smooth, pale curd – tofu or bean curd. The use of fermented and precipitated soy products soon spread to other parts of the Orient, notably Japan and Indonesia. Read the rest of this entry »

Young Living’s Sulfurzyme (#3243) is a break through formula that combines pharmaceutical-grade
MSM with Chinese Wolfberry. Below information came from Gary Young and Dr. Ron Lawrence, M.D., Ph.D.

Sulfurzyme combines MSM, a natural form of sulfur, with the Chinese superfood NingXia wolfberry. According
to many health professionals, this product has the potential to revolutionize how
millions of people deal with chronic pain, inflammation, and allergies.

According to Ronald Lawrence, M.D., Ph.D., MSM works to restore flexibility
to cell membranes and slowing down the breakdown of cartilage. “It also inhibits
the transmission of pain impulses along the nerve fiber”.

“The results we have been seeing with this product is mind-boggling,” stated D.
Gary Young, N.D. “What makes this product different from the other products is
the exceptional purity of MSM we use. This pharmaceutical grade MSM in Sulfurzyme is light years away from the low-grade material imported from Asia. Unfortunately, a
great deal of the MSM sold in the U.S. originates from Asia.”

“I believe that the key ingredient that make Sulfurzyme so effective is the Chinese
Wolfberry. With over 18 amino acids and 21 minerals, the wolfberry is one of the
most nutrient-dense foods known” stated Gary Young. “Few people realize that in
order properly metabolize the sulfur in MSM, the body requires minerals like molybdenum.
When these are missing, MSM does not work as well. This is why wolfberry is so important.”

Dr. Lawrence , M.D., Ph.D. and author of ‘The Miracle of MSM’ agrees. “What makes Sulfurzyme unique is a combination of high-grade
MSM and Chinese wolfberry. The therapeutic potential of the two together is enormous. I intend to make Sulfurzyme a central part of my practice.
I expect to see results that will far surpass that of traditional MSM formulations. I highly recommend it for all of my patients.”
