We spend most of the day indoors, but our homes may be damaging our health. Seemingly innocent materials can give off harmful gases (volatile organic compounds). Tightly sealed buildings are often humid, encouraging the growth of molds, which affect our breathing. Modern gadgets and wiring in the home create harmful electromagnetic fields. Exposure to pollutants can cause mild symptoms, such as fatigue and insomnia, through to serious diseases, like leukemia. We are most vulnerable to pollutants when we are asleep, so the bedroom is a great place to make more healthy.
Whether your home is old, new, or recently remodeled, the quality of air inside the home may be affecting your health. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “The air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities.”

Safe, beautiful spaces.
The pollution in our homes comes from the outgassing of petrochemicals used in the manufacturing of wall paneling, upholstery, paint, flooring, furniture, beds and bedding, cabinetry, clothing, household cleaning products, laundry products (including dryer sheets), disinfectants, personal care products, and central heating and cooling systems. These products are loaded with synthetic chemicals, and it is our repeated exposure day in and day out that can make you sick.
Transforming Our Homes Into Safe and Beautiful Spaces
There are many things we can do to get our homes back on track and create a safe space in which to grow and live in. Improving the mood and energetic climate of our homes should be near the top of our must-do-list as it is the place where we can spend 65% of our time.
There is so much we can do that requires little money, usually the first thing we can do is… get rid of the clutter. Just bite the bullet and clear those piles of stuff out and have a yard sale or donate the things that we have been hanging on to. We can also add income by getting rid of everything we have in storage units too – it’s not serving us in any way to have such a burdensome ball and chain around our necks, which drains our energy.
One of my most favorite things to do is find ways to eliminate buying stuff and think creatively, it’s so much more stimulating and empowering. Speaking of empowering, I haven’t bought or used any kind of drugs or cleaning products in over 15 years and I have saved a lot of money in the process – see how I use essential oils in place of many commonly used products. Young Living essential oils can be purchased at my website, and contact me if you need assistance or have questions.
I have also saved myself a lot of money by not buying things like – paper towels and paper napkins. Instead, I save my old washcloths and kitchen towels and use them as cleaning rags. I also would NEVER consider for a moment using a paper towel to clean up a mess or a spill – what a waste of money! I use a sponge or an old kitchen towel. This I’ve done for over 30 years. So, even if I only spent $10 a month on these products I’ve saved at least $3,600. that gives me $10 more a month to save or to spend on something that is really purposeful.
Using pure therapeutic essential oils is one way to add cheer and refreshment to my home – smell is evocative and influences emotions. When asked, the first thing I advise people to do is to purchase a Young Living diffuser. I strongly believe this purchase is significant because aromatherapy works in two ways: first, the aromas can be uplifting and invigorating to the mind and spirit, and second, the essential oils purify the air and neutralize odors and don’t mask them like other products on the market (which also happen to be quite toxic).
By using Young Living’s essential oils in the home, you can clean, energize, and refresh your living environment with just a little bit of effort.
