The Young Living essential oil blend Gentle Baby (#3345) is comforting, soothing, relaxing, and beneficial for reducing stress during pregnancy. It helps reduce stretch marks and scar tissue and rejuvenates the skin, improves elasticity and reduces wrinkles. It is particularly soothing to dry, chapped skin and diaper rash. Used properly, YL oils are safe for children.
• Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) has been used for centuries for skin care. It revitalizes tissue and nerves and has relaxant, anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious effects.
• Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) is soothing and nourishing to the skin, enhancing skin elasticity, and is antibacterial and antifungal.
• Lemon (Citrus limon) increases microcirculation and lymphatic function. Its fragrance is stimulating, invigorating and antidepressant. (Komori, et al., 1995). • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is known as the universal oil. Application of Gentle Baby Blend
Adults: Dilute 1 part Gentle Baby Essential oil to 1 part V-6 Massage Oil (a carrier oil). Apply over mother’s abdomen, on feet, lower back, face, and neck areas.
Infants and Children: Dilute 1 drop Gentle Baby essential oil to one teaspoon V-6 Massage Oil (carrier oil). Apply on location for dry, chapped skin or diaper rash. Dilute with V-6 (carrier oil) for body massage and for applying on baby’s skin.
Possible sun sensitivity, photosensitivity due to the lemon and Bergamot oils.
Diffuse: Gentle Baby has a lovely calming fragrance and can be diffused in one of Young Living’s diffusers. Run diffuser for 15 -30 minutes 2-3 times a day. Tip – do NOT dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil for diffusing as this could ruin your diffuser.
For Pregnancy and Delivery: Use for massage throughout entire pregnancy for relieving stress and anxiety, and to prevent scarring and creating a mood of serenity. Massage on the perineum to help it stretch for easier birthing, this can be used for birthing animals too.
About Using Young Living Oils
Young Living oils are natural, organic, and are extremely pure and potent. Do not use YL oils the same way you use cheap oils – in other words a drop or two is usually quite sufficient.
Tip for Cranky Babies
You can put one drop of Young Living lavender or Gentle Baby in your palm, rub palms together and brush babies clothing or blanket with your hands – you don’t necessarily need to apply the essential oil to the skin to gain aroma-therapy benefits. Just your wearing Gentle Baby or YL lavender as a perfume can be enough to calm a fussy baby.

Caution: Essential Oils and Pregnancy
Some essential oils should be avoided during pregnancy because they contain biochemicals that could disrupt normal pregnancy development in a variety of ways. For this reason, they should be avoided by pregnant women until after delivery. These include: basil, calamus, clary sage, fennel, hyssop, nutmeg, rosemary, sage, tansy, and tarragon. Some essential oils, such as fennel, may help accelerate labor once it has begun. Always consult a health professional before using essential oils during pregnancy.
I would also like to further caution moms and say that it is extremely important to avoid using aromatherapy oils and products that flood the market these days, they contain very toxic ingredients. Read a previous article I wrote on how to tell if the essential oil / aromatherapy oil you are buying is pure, purity most certainly makes a difference.
