The natural properties found in essential oils produce a soothing, uplifting effect on the mind and emotions. When an essential oil containing the optimum level of therapeutic constituents, such as Young Living Essential Oils, is diffused or applied topically, the result fosters a sense of emotional balance and well-being.

When the aroma of essential oils is inhaled, the scent travels to the reticular system of the brain stem where emotions and memories are connected. This enables essential oils to improve emotional wellness in many ways. Those haunted by negative memories can use a cleansing blend, and in times of stress or mental fatigue a rejuvenating oil can remove emotional stressors and leave you feeing mentally invigorated. Other essential oils increase feelings of courage and determination when faced with life’s many challenges.

Essential Oils for Improved Emotional Wellness

Regardless of your emotional health, the therapeutic properties harnessed in Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ (YLTG) oils can help you improve or regain an optimal state of emotional wellness.

When we encounter an emotionally charged situation, instead of being overwhelmed by it, we can diffuse essential oils, put them in our bath, or wear them as cologne. The aromatic molecules will absorb into the bloodstream from the nasal cavity to the limbic system. They will activate the amygdala (the memory center for fear and trauma) and sedate and relax the sympathetic/para-sympathetic system. The oils help support the body in minimizing the acid that is created so that it does not initiate a reaction with the transcript enzyme.

Because essential oils affect the amygdala and pineal gland in the brain, they can help the mind and body by releasing emotional trauma and sharpening focus. People have many distractions in today’s fast-paced world. Essential oils may assist people to stay centered in their goals. Those who are struggling to retain or remember information can breathe the essential oils of peppermint, cardamom, or rosemary to stimulate the brain and memory functions for better concentration.

A proprietary blend of Ruta graveolens (rue), lavender, and valerian essential oils, Young Living’s RutaVaLa promotes relaxation of the body and mind. Using therapeutic-grade essential oils, such as RutaVaLa, for aroma-therapy purposes can help us create wellness in our lives. As we inhale a therapeutic essential oil, they stimulate the olfactory bulb nerve fibers, which send impulses to the limbic region of the brain. This is often referred to as the primitive brain. Read more about how aromatherapy benefits us in many ways.

Unique to Young Living, RutaVaLa is a proprietary blend of Ruta graveolens (rue), lavender, and valerian essential oils. Although lavender and valerian are well known for their sedative properties, this blend introduces the less recognized, yet efficacious, ruta oil. The Ruta graveolens herb is farmed, harvested, and distilled at Gary Young’s Young Living farm in Ecuador. Use of the rue herb dates back many centuries and is referenced in the Bible as an herb to be tithed (more on the Healing Oils of the Ancient Scripture). When combined with lavender and valerian, this trio of essential oils is formulated to relax the body and mind, counter stressed nerves, and revitalize passion.

Gift ideas that have thought behind them...

A good reality check this time of year could save you a lot and also help you decide what you may want and what to give others. Many of the ideas are practical, ideas that save money and health – things that we don’t necessarily think of during the holiday gift giving season. Here are some things that we often forget to check or consider if they have been a part of our lives long enough and might be causing a wellness or safety issue. These also make excellent fun and unique gifts for the holidays…

Reduce Allergies

Hair and body oils will have soaked into a pillow’s fabric and stuffing after a year of nightly use, making it a breeding ground for odor causing bacteria and allergy triggering dust mites. Using protectors can double the life of your pillows.

I also like to take my pillow outdoors once every week or two and beat it (like the women once did with rugs) and let sit in the bright sunshine all day – wow! I also vacuum my mattress and spritz my bed at least once a week with my essential oils (20-30 drops Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils, in a 32 oz. spray bottle filled with water – heavenly!)

Sleep Better

A good mattress lasts 9 to 10 years, according to the National Sleep Foundation, but consider replacing your mattress every 5 to 7 years if you don’t sleep well. A study at Oklahoma State University found that most people who switched to new bedding after 5 years sleep significantly better and had less back pain.
